As a patient with Sickle Cell Disease and a Grammy-nominated writer and music producer, Nana Kwabena developed an affinity for the intersection of art and pro-social causes.

Following his younger brother’s death from Sickle Cell in 2011, Nana Kwabena founded the non-profit organization AllOneBlood that expands public awareness of the disease through photo and video campaigns and celebrity hospital visits with the ultimate goal of raising money for existing organizations dedicated to finding a universal cure for the disease.

In June 2012, AllOneBlood partnered with John Legend to entertain and interact with Sickle Cell and Hematology patients at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. And in July 2012, AllOneBlood partnered with Philadelphia-based soul singer Bilal as the featured guest at the Sickle Cell Thalassemia Patients Network’s 21st Annual Scholastic Achievement and Scholarship Awards Ceremony in Harlem, NY. As a music producer, Nana Kwabena has worked with the likes of Kanye West, Rick Ross, John Legend, Janelle Monae, Jidenna, Kimbra and Kendrick Lamar.

While some create art for art’s sake, Nana Kwabena believes in art as a vehicle for tangible change, with the goal of fully realizing a universal cure for Sickle Cell Disease.
